Hamilton College's Michaela Giuttari '20 (Warwick, R.I./Loomis Chaffee School [Conn.]) was selected for the 2017 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III All-America Team on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

2017 NFHCA Division III All-America Team

Giuttari, who was placed on the second team, is one of only four sophomores on the all-America team as a total of 48 athletes were honored. She is the sixth Hamilton field hockey all-American and it's the seventh all-America award in program history.

The forward made the NFHCA all-New England West Region first team in late November. Guittari finished with 18 goals and 39 points in 15 games -- all of them starts. She recorded the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory at Trinity College on Sept. 16 and in a 2-1 triumph at Bowdoin College on Oct. 14. Giuttari, who was on the all-NESCAC first team, notched two goals in both of those contests. Her goal and point totals this year are the second highest for one season in program history. She is already in fourth place on the team's all-time list with 32 goals and 75 points.

The Continentals finished with a record of 9-6 and tied for third in the NESCAC standings at 6-4. The field hockey team earned the fourth seed for the 2017 conference championship and hosted a quarterfinal for the second year in a row. Nationally ranked No. 20 Hamilton was 15th in the NFHCA Top 20 preseason poll and remained in the rankings for the entire regular season. The Continentals reached as high as No. 8 in the Sept. 19 poll -- the first time the program had ever been ranked in the top 10. Hamilton, thanks in part to Giuttari, averaged 3.1 goals per game.
