Conley '20, Hill '19 with 3 points apiece in Bowdoin setback

Bowdoin College scored seven goals in the third quarter and the nationally ranked No. 19 Polar Bears went on to a 17-7 NESCAC men's lacrosse win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Fla., on Saturday.

Hamilton (2-3, 1-2 NESCAC) received two goals and an assist from both Chris Conley '20 and Henry Hill '19. Clay McCollum '19, Owen McCarthy '20 and J.D. Brachman '17 scored one goal each. Jack Warren '19 scooped up five ground balls and Zach Kleinbaum '19 picked up four. John Schisler '17 made seven saves before he gave way to Noah Weissmann '18 midway through the third quarter. Weissmann stopped six more shots.

Jimmy Young led Bowdoin (1-2, 1-1) with three goals and three assists. Jeff Powers and Matthew Crowell tallied four goals apiece and Shawn Daly was credited with four assists. Drew Hillman added a goal and two helpers.

McCollum gave the Continentals a 1-0 lead with 10:06 left in the first quarter when he scored on a pass from Hill. The Polar Bears responded with four straight goals, including two by Powers. Three of the goals were assisted by Daly.

Bowdoin led 5-2 after the first quarter and 9-3 at the half. The Polar Bears extended their advantage to 16-4 at the end of three quarters. Hamilton notched the last three goals of the game.

The Continentals scored twice on four extra-man opportunities, took 40 shots, collected 21 ground balls and were successful on 18 of 21 clear attempts.

Hamilton hosts Nazareth College for a non-conference game at Steuben Field on Wednesday, March 22 at 4 p.m.
