Hamilton extends SUNY Oneonta to overtime

The Hamilton College men's soccer team lost for the first time since the season opener, falling 1-0 in overtime to the visiting SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons in a non-league game Sunday afternoon at Withiam Field.

The Continentals (2-2-0 overall) stretched their scoreless streak to 325:16 before Oneonta -- who has reached the NCAA championship semifinals in each of the past two seasons -- scored the game's only goal just under three minutes into overtime.

The Red Dragons outshot the hosts 12-6 and finally broke through on their fifth corner kick. Zachary Southworth sent a shoulder-high liner to the near post and Dillon Johnson headed the ball into the middle of the net for his second goal of the season.

The goal was the first allowed all season by Harris Pollack '17.

The teams combined for just four shots on goal. The Continentals had one of their best chances late in regulation when Oneonta goaltender Ryan Wilson came out of the box to corral a cross intended for a charging Aidan Wood '20 with just under two minutes to go in the second half.

Hamilton continues its five-game homestand Wednesday, hosting Ithaca College in a 4:30 p.m. non-conference contest at Love Field.
