Men's swimming & diving places 5th in Hamilton Invitational

The Hamilton College men's swimming and diving team finished in fifth place out of seven teams in the 2017 Hamilton Invitational at Bristol Pool on Saturday night.

The Continentals scored 571 team points during the two-day meet. The team title went to Trinity College with 693 points and the runner-up was SUNY Oswego with 632.

Tripp Miller '18 led Hamilton with a trio of top-three performances. Miller was runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:02.38 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:17.77. He added a third place finish in the 100 breast (1:00.85).

Case Tatro '18 finished in the top eight in three freestyle events. He was fifth in the 200 free (1:50.54) in a race where the top six swimmers were separated by less than two seconds. Tatro was sixth in the 500 free (5:03.98) and eighth in the 1,650 free (17:55.41).

Evan Tatro '20 took third place in the 200 IM (2:03.35), finished fifth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.38 seconds and was sixth in the 200 back (2:01.05). Ben Cooper '18 landed in third place in the 100 back with a time of 56.16 seconds and was seventh in the 200 back (2:04.10). Jordan Allen '19 gave the Continentals three swimmers in the top five of the 100 back as he was fourth in 56.26 seconds. Allen was also fourth in the 200 back (2:00.90).

Ben Kaplan '21 was third in the 200 breast (2:18.31) and fourth in the 100 breast (1:03.60). Jesse Bennett '19 ended up sixth in the 100 breast (1:03.72) and the 200 breast (2:21.01), and he was eighth in the 500 free (5:04.69). Ben Cornaglia '19 finished seventh in the 100 free with a time of 50.78 seconds.

The men are off for finals and the holidays and they return to the pool with a home dual meet against Wesleyan University on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 3 p.m.
