Two tennis matches on tap for the weekend

The Hamilton College men's and women's tennis teams play two NESCAC matches over the weekend. Hamilton first hosts Connecticut College on Saturday and travel to Williams College on Sunday.

Saturday's matches are scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at Tietje Family Tennis Center. On Sunday, the women's match starts at 11 a.m. and the men at 2 p.m.

The Hamilton women (4-9 overall, 0-5 NESCAC) are coming off a 7-2 victory over Ithaca College in a non-conference match on Thursday. Sophia Aulicino '21 posted her team-leading 12th singles triumph against Ithaca in first flight. Ajla Karabegovic '21 has 11 wins in singles play and pairs up with Audrey Chor '21 for six wins in doubles.

On the men's side, Hamilton (4-11, 0-5) fell 5-4 in an exciting match at Ithaca -- ranked 20th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Region Team Rankings -- on Tuesday. Max Zimmerman '21 won his fifth straight singles match against the Bombers and has won seven of his last eight for a team-high 14 wins. Rob Dotterer '21 and Sam Farber '20 guide doubles play with nine wins as a duo.


The Conn. College women (3-8, 1-5) picked up their first conference win in a 5-4 match against Trinity College on Sunday, April 22 before falling 8-1 to No. 5 Wesleyan University on Wednesday.

The Camel men (2-9, 0-7) are still looking for their first NESCAC win of the season, dropping three straight conference matches to No. 22 Bates College, Trinity and No. 12 Wesleyan.


The Williams women (15-0, 6-0) are second in the ITA Division III National Team Rankings, and the men (12-3, 5-1) are ranked fourth. Brian Grodecki leads the men's squad and Juli Raventow guides the women. Grodecki and Raventwo are ranked first and third, respectively, in the ITA regional rankings.
