The Hamilton College men's tennis team reached the finals in two events at the 2018 St. Lawrence University Fall Classic on September 8 and 9.
Rookie, Joe Reiner '22 was singles champion in "C" flight. He first defeated Nick Lim of RIT 8-2 and grabbed a 9-7 win over St. Lawrence's Spencer Whitmire in the quarterfinals on Saturday. On Sunday, Reiner posted scores of 7-5, 6-3 in the semifinals against Thomas Shung of Hobart and dominated the final 6-0, 6-2 against Ithaca's Joe Tuerk.
Max Zimmerman '21 and Danny Tsyvin '22 defeated twin brothers, Austin and Max Egna of Union 8-4 in the first round of the "A" doubles flight. The Hamilton pair took down their Hobart opponents 8-6 in the quarterfinals and posted an 8-4 win over an Ithaca pairing in the semifinals before Rochester's Masaru Fujimaki and Isaiah Volk won the final 8-1 for the title.
Reiner teamed up with Eamon Gibbons '21 in "B" doubles flight. They posted an 8-5 win against an Ithaca duo in the first round before falling 9-8 (7-4) in the quarterfinals to Union's Justin Gold and Cameron Klepper.
Rob Dotterer '21 fell 8-5 in the first round of "A" singles flight but quickly rebounded to win all three matches in the back draw. He first posted a score of 8-2 against Brennan Bull from RIT, outlasted Union's Austin Egna 9-8 (7-5) in the semifinals and closed with an exciting 9-7 victory over the hosts' Nico Haet in the final. Henry Schwob '22 also posted two wins in the back draw of the "D" singles flight by scores of 8-5 in the semifinals and 8-3 in the final.
Hamilton travels to Union College for the Dutchman Invitational on September 15 and 16.
