Hamilton College men's cross country runner Peter DeWeirdt '18 (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier HS) has earned 2017 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III All-Region honors.

The top 35 finishers at each of the eight NCAA Division III regional championship meets on Saturday, Nov. 11 earned the all-region distinction. The Continentals competed in the Atlantic Region Men's Cross Country Championship at Houghton College's Field of Dreams in Houghton, N.Y.

DeWeirdt, who picked up all-region recognition for the first time, led the team in 24th place out of 290 runners with a personal-best time of 25:22 on the 8-kilometer course. The regional race completed a successful fall season for DeWeirdt as he also earned a spot on the 2017 NESCAC Men's Cross Country All-Conference Team. The all-conference team is based on performance at the 2017 NESCAC Men's Cross Country Championship, which was held at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine, on Saturday, Oct. 28. DeWeirdt ended up in 13th place out of 140 runners with a time of 25:43.5 and made the second team.
