DeWeirdt, who was an all-academic individual in 2016 as well, capped a memorable 2017 season with the all-academic award. In order to qualify for the honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet. DeWeirdt placed 24th out of 290 runners at the 2017 NCAA Atlantic Region Championship with a personal-best time of 25:22.

Hamilton was also recognized as a 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA. The Continentals picked up their award for the 10th straight year under head coach Brett Hull after they boasted a 3.34 cumulative GPA. For a team to be considered for all-academic team distinction, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA regional meet and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale.
