Men's cross country places ninth at Purple Valley Classic

Hamilton College finished in ninth place out of 16 teams at the 2018 Williams Purple Valley Men's Cross Country Classic held at Mount Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown, Mass., on Saturday afternoon.

Bryce Murdick '20 led the Continentals in 21st place out of 209 runners with a time of 26:35.7 on the 8-kilometer course. Lucas Wright '21 was close behind Murdick in 27th place and a time of 26:40.8. Colin Horgan '19 landed in 89th place with a time of 27:55.8 and Chris Skeldon '20 was right behind Horgan in 92nd place and a time of 28:01.7. Peter Ross '20 rounded out Hamilton's top five in 103rd place with a time of 28:12.1.

The Continentals posted 266 team points. No. 6 RPI captured the team title with 41 points and No. 17 Williams was runner-up with 72. No. 8 Middlebury took third place with 103 points, No. 3 Amherst was fourth with 118, and No. 7 Massachusetts Institute of Technology ended up fifth with 127. No. 24 Connecticut College was sixth with 225 points and No. 28 Tufts was seventh with 235 points.

Hamilton travels to Saratoga Spa State Park in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., for RPI's Saratoga Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 29.
