Men's cross country places 14th at NCAA regional meet

The Hamilton College Continentals finished in 14th place out of 45 teams at the 2018 NCAA Division III Atlantic Region Men's Cross Country Championship at Gloucester County DREAM Park in Logan Township, N.J., on Saturday afternoon.

Lucas Wright '21 led Hamilton in 40th place out of 307 runners with an 8-kilometer time of 27:17.4. Grant O'Connor of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute was the race winner with a time of 26:00.8.

Bryce Murdick '20 was next for the Continentals in 50th place and a time of 27:28.5. Nick Lyon '22 crossed the finish line in 91st place with a time of 28:11.7, Max Steffey '22 was close behind Lyon in 94th place and a time of 28:15.7, and Colin Horgan '19 ended up 103rd in 28:22.1. Peter Ross '20 landed in 124th place with a time of 28:35 and Chris Skeldon '20 rounded out Hamilton's lineup in 141st place and a time of 28:47.1.

The Continentals registered a total of 378 team points. Nationally ranked No. 10 RPI captured the regional team title with 26 points and No. 8 SUNY Geneseo was runner-up with 59. No. 26 Rochester Institute of Technology was a distant third (122 points), No. 22 SUNY Oneonta took fourth place (145), and No. 30 St. Lawrence University was sixth (179).
