Women's golf takes third place at St. Lawrence Invitational

Hamilton College finished in third place out of 11 teams at the 2018 St. Lawrence University Women's Golf Invitational on Sunday.

The two-day, 36-hole tournament was held at St. Lawrence's 5,830-yard Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course in Canton, New York. The Continentals posted a four-person team score of 316 on Saturday, were slightly better with a 315 in the second round, and posted a total of 631 for the weekend. New York University claimed the team title at 592 and Middlebury was runner-up at 625.

Hamilton's Libbie Warner '19 tied for seventh at 151 after she fired an even-par 72 in the first round and added a 79 on Sunday. Warner's tournament score obliterated her previous 36-hole collegiate record of 157.

Emily Moy '22 placed 12th out of 53 finishers at 157 with rounds of 79 and 78. Sophia Archos '21 was right behind Moy in a tie for 13th place at 159, which was 12 strokes better than her previous best with the Continentals. Archos opened with an 81 and carded a career-best 78 in the final round.

Celia Lau '21 tied for 18th place at 166 (86-80) and Winda Wanikpun '20 contributed an 84 on Saturday. Lau's second round and 36-hole totals were both records for her at Hamilton.

The Continentals compete in the William Smith College Invitational at Clifton Springs Country Club on Sept. 15 and 16.
