The Hamilton College women's hockey team dropped a 1-0 non-conference decision against Morrisville State in their home opener on Tuesday afternoon at Russell Sage Rink.

The Continentals (2-1-0 overall) outshot the Mustangs (6-2-1) 12-9 in the third period, but Morrisville's early surge gave the visitors the 33-25 shot advantage.

Morrisville scored the only goal 6:28 into the second period. Alexziz Giannamore grabbed the loose puck off the Mustangs' blue line and sped down the right side. Giannamore took a snap shot from the top of the right faceoff circle, but Sam Walther '18 delivered a kick-save to deny the attempt as the rebound bounced to Shanley Austin in the slot. Austin fired a shot and as both teams fought for the rebound the puck was redirected over the goal line.

Walther made 32 saves and Karoline Arvik finished with 25.

The Continentals make the short trip to Utica College (6-3-0) on Sunday, Nov. 26 at 3 p.m.
