Hamilton College alum Sam Walther '18 (Gambrills, Md./The Gunnery [Conn.]) signed a contract on Tuesday, July 10 to play for the Connecticut Whale of the National Women's Hockey League.

The Whale play their home games at Terry Conners Rink in Stamford, and the home opener is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 7. The Whale posted a record of 3-11-2 in 2017-18.

Walther was selected the 2018 NESCAC player of the year and was a two-time first team all-American goaltender for the Continentals. She holds the program's career records for goals against average, save percentage and shutouts. In 2017-18 she set single-season team records for goals against average (1.08), save percentage (.960) and shutouts (10).
