The Hamilton College women's soccer team defeated SUNY Oneonta 2-0 in non-league play Wednesday afternoon at Ferguson Field. The Continentals (1-2-0 overall) recorded their first win of the 2017 season.
Hamilton outshot the winless Red Dragons (0-4-1) 21-9.
The game-winning goal came off the foot of Darby Philbrick '18 two minutes into the second half. Katja Dunlap '18 started the play with a cross from the left corner of the field to a waiting Philbrick at the top of the 18-yard box. Philbrick dribbled past the Red Dragon defender and put Hamilton up 1-0 with a shot to the lower left corner of the net.
Katie Tenefrancia '19 scored her first goal of the season in the 51st minute. Kristin Hughes '20 delivered Hamilton's fifth corner kick for Tenefrancia to head the ball past Oneonta goalkeeper Melissa Muller.
Emily Dumont '18 made five saves in the shutout.
The Continentals travel to Hartford, Conn. for a NESCAC game against Trinity at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, followed by a 1:30 p.m. game Sunday at Middlebury.
