Hamilton takes first loss of 2016

The Hamilton College volleyball team opened two days of play at the University of Rochester Tournament Friday with a four-set loss to SUNY Geneseo.

The Knights (1-4) won the first two sets (25-14 and 25-23), then bounced back from a Hamilton win in the third set (25-21) to seal the victory in the fourth (25-10). Hamilton took its first loss of the season.

Erin Donahue '18 recorded her eighth career double-double finishing with 10 digs and a team-best 14 kills. Christine Zizzi '18 collected 14 digs to pace Hamilton.

Meghan Wilkinson '19 was the Continentals' leader with 26 assists and a pair of service aces. She added 11 digs, giving her the ninth double-double of her career. Kendall Searcy '20 matched Wilkinson with two aces.

The Knights were paced by Courtney Cleary (12 kills, three blocks) and Grace Cergoi (10 kills, 16 digs).

The Continentals play two Saturday matches to wrap up their first tournament of the season; they take on St. John Fisher College at 11 a.m. and face SUNY Brockport at 3 p.m.
