The Hamilton College volleyball team competed at the Volleyball Hall of Fame Induction Tournament on Oct. 20 and 21 in Amherst, Mass.
Amherst College was a co-host with Smith College in Northampton, Mass.
The Continentals (12-7 overall) came up short against Wheaton (Mass.) 3-1 on Friday night. On Saturday, Hamilton defeated Brandeis 3-0 before falling to Wellesley in three sets.
After a close 25-21 first set against the Brandeis Judges (11-11), the Continentals completed the sweep with set scores of 25-17 and 25-18.
Courtney Brown '18 smashed a team-high 11 kills and committed just one error in 24 attack attempts for a .417 hitting percentage. Christine Zizzi '18 had a match-high 20 digs and Margaret O'Brien '18 had nine kills and six blocks.
The set scores against Wellesley were 25-23, 25-21 and 25-21.
Dorothy Poucher '21 crushed 10 kills and Brown added seven. Zizzi totaled 18 digs and Kendall Searcy '20 picked up 10. Kyndal Burdin '18 handed out 23 assists and added 13 digs. O'Brien added six blocks in the defensive effort.
Brown was named to the 2017 Hall of Fame Induction All-Tournament team for her successes throughout the weekend.
Hamilton wraps up its regular season next weekend with a three-match homestand at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House.
The Continentals host Middlebury College (16-6, 5-3 NESCAC) Friday, Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. for their final NESCAC match of the regular season. A tri-match with Morrisville State (19-5) and St. Lawrence University (17-10) follows on Saturday, Oct. 28 starting at 11 a.m.
